Abstract
I worked in the AAA mmorpg Jade Dynasty 2 team from 2023. I focused on level and AI design.
As a level designer:
I actively transitioned from linear level design into open-world content, developing a structured understanding of spatial layout, exploration flow, and systemic worldbuilding. In this role, I also took on greater management responsibilities—mentoring interns and contributing to team-wide design tools and workflows—gradually evolving from an executor to a influencer in the team with a sense of ownership.
Created level prototypes using scripting tools, build level layout in Maya, and authored detailed design documentation to clearly communicate vision and execution plans.
Created region-specific enemies, NPCs and side quests, providing diversified encounters, ensuring every zone offered narrative depth and meaningful player discovery.
Maintained and improved internal editor tools and documentation pipelines, onboarded and supported level and AI design interns, and helped scale team workflows with clarity and consistency.
As a combat designer:
I craft enemy AIs with rich behaviors to create a dynamic, readable, and natural combat experience for open-world wild areas. I use the behavior tree and game ability system in Unreal to implement my design.
AI Design: Build enemy race systems in the open world. Developed distinct combat and behavior patterns for enemies to deliver unique, memorable combat scenarios that enrich the player’s exploration journey.
Encounter Design: Created region-specific enemy outposts (factions) to diversify encounters and enhance player engagement in the open world.
Enemy Placement and Planning: Strategically placed monsters with varied behaviors and ecological roles across the open world to build a vibrant and immersive ecosystem for exploration.
